Understanding The TOEFL Score
TOEFL iBT score ranges from 0-120 and each of its four areas, i.e., Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing, is scored from 0-30.
Every segment of the TOEFL iBT is marked out of 0 to 30, resulting in an overall score of 0 to 120. Such granularity allows institutions to measure specific language skill reliably.
TOEFL test scores remain valid for two years from the date of the test in order to reflect current language proficiency.
Accepted at over 13,000 colleges and universities in over 160 countries, TOEFL scores are widely used for admissions to universities, job placements, and immigration.
Some university admissions have minimum TOEFL score requirements. Harvard University, for example, demands at least an 104 TOEFL iBT, and the University of Toronto demands a 100.

Key Reasons for Opting for TOEFL over Competing Tests
TOEFL iBT enjoys several advantages which have contributed to its popularity among so many test-takers:
Academic Relevance: Test content is derived from actual academic context, so the student is prepared for university level language requirements.
- Integrated Tasks: TOEFL contains tasks whose integration involves more than one skill such as reading, listening, and speaking to examine the English communication ability.
- Anonymity in Rater Rating: Responses get rated blindly by various evaluators in order to remove opportunities for bias.
- Comprehensive Preparation Materials: ETS provides various official preparation materials, such as practice tests and skill-building materials, for test takers to prepare.
